Open PhD Position (m/f/d) in Intestinal Stem Cell Research

Applications are invited from highly motivated biology/biochemistry graduates (diploma, M.Sc. degree or equivalent). In his/her project the PhD candidate will study key signaling mechanisms by which the enteric neuronal niche modifies epithelial cell function.
The focus of the project will be on the modulation of intestinal epithelial stem cells by the vasoactive intestinal peptide and its implications for homeostasis and regeneration. The PhD project will include interrogation of key signaling pathways using murine and human organoids as well as experimental in vivo models. The candidate will have the opportunity to apply for the PhD program of the TUM Medical Graduate Center (MGC) of TUM Graduate School that provides structured training and supervision. The PhD position is offered for a 3-year period.

Your responsibilities:
• Design and performance of experimental procedures (in vitro organoid studies; in vivo experiments); data analysis
• Management of mouse colony
• Support in organization of lab supplies

Your Profile:
• Very good master or equivalent degree in live or natural sciences
• Strong motivation, scientific curiosity, flexible, independent, with a keen interest in stem cell biology
• Experimental experience in molecular cell biology and cell culture models; experience in animal research models is preferred
