FAQ - New Registrations and Other Common Inquiries
If you are seeking admission to programs such as "Experimental Medicine and Health Sciences" (Dr. rer. nat.), "Translational Medicine" (Dr. med. sci.(dent.)), and medical doctoral degrees (Dr.med.(dent.)), it is imperative to initiate the application process by creating an account on DocGS. Subsequently, ensure that all requisite details are accurately completed.
Furthermore, it is essential to complete the new supervision agreement/English version, accessible through the provided link. It is worth noting that only the new supervision agreement is mandatory, and the one from DocGS can be disregarded. Please be mindful that original signatures are required on the documents.
Do not forget to submit the remaining essential documents, thus completing the full application.
Kindly be aware that for Experimental Medicine and Health Sciences, all three TAC members must be Hochschullehrer (PD, apl. Prof., Prof.) or TUM Junior Fellows. TUM Junior Fellow can only serve as first supervisor or mentor, and only one TUM JS is allowed in each TAC. The second supervisor and mentor are not required to be members of TUM School of Medicine and Health; they can also be from other TUM Schools or beyond. It's essential that one TAC member holds a Dr. rer. nat.-degree or its international equivalent (and needs to be a Hochschullehrer nonetheless).

For Translational Medicine, please take note that the mentor, as well as the first and second supervisor, must be Hochschullehrer (PD, apl. Prof., Prof.) or TUM Junior Fellow. TUM Junior Fellow can only serve as first supervisor or mentor, and only one TUM JS is allowed in each TAC.

If you are registering for one of the programs and need to submit certified documents from your master studies, please make sure you follow these rules: https://www.tum.de/en/studies/application/application-info-portal/notarization(link is external)
An exception for TUM degrees – if you come by and bring original documents with you, we can make copies and certify them for you.
Starting from October 2021, it is required to upload an updated supervision agreement along with the TAC meeting report.
In cases where there have been no changes to your supervision agreement, please upload the original document. Alternatively, you can create a brief statement affirming that no changes have occurred, sign the document, and upload it as a PDF.
There are no stipulated rules regarding the size and font of the text in your dissertation. For some other requirements and recommendations, please refer to this document (available in German only).
